Poor communication and unprofessional. Expect you may have to wait ~ 2 hours past appointment time. If you go here expect to have to advocate for your animal due to poor record-keeping and other issues. Although it is not obvious from the website, this clinic is part of a group of 300+ veterinary practices (Western Veterinary Partners). Western Veterinary Partners is owned by a private equity firm in Chicago (Tyree & D'Angelo Partners).

Some back story: My very young puppy became extremely sick very quickly and out of no where, she soon lost any interest in eating and was having horrible stomach issues. She lost her spark and became shut off from the world and very lethargic. I rushed her to an emergency vet and spent 9 hours there the first day only for them to tell me they had no idea what's wrong and we're unable to get blood for the second set of labs after attempting on two of her legs and no one being able to get anything. They gave some treatments for symptoms and sent us home. I had to go back after she got worse and was unable to maintain her blood sugar and was starting to become dangerously sick, spent another 5+ hours for nothing but the most expensive and extreme ends of things to be suggested. I decided to not take her back and tried Malaheard as an Urgent care visit instead, that was the best decision I ever made. They are fast, efficient, and competent. A fraction of the cost and we're able to get more testing done for more solutions and a better idea of what may be wrong. I was able to rule out a whole list of possibilities in little to no time and it allowed for a much more tailored treatment. There day stay was affordable and did absolute wonders for her, she was also given a treatment that gave her a whole 360 in less than 24 hours. She became a puppy again, started gaining the weight she needed, eating, playing and overall became so much happier. I could even see it in her face when I came to pick her up at the end of the day. I didn't spend an entire day waiting for nothing and finally had a treatment and solution which came down to rehydration, glucose treatment, and antibiotics, which was not even considered at the other vet. I can tell she was thankful for the medications and treatment as it solved all her symptoms, even if she was very vocal about it at the time of the initial treatment for the few hours she was there😅. I could not be more happy with the care received and definitely recommend them and plan to make them my primary care vet, as they are the reason I still have a puppy to come home to.

I was recommended by VCA. They didn’t have an appt so they recommended Malaherd. And I’m glad they did. From the receptionist that made the appointment on the phone she was super sweet and got us in within the hour, To Dr Livingston who was so cool and was very good with Miles. His assistant. My apologies don’t remember her name but she was so sweet and also good with miles. Miles doesn’t like to be held or be around strangers but he felt so comfortable. Thank you so much for being good to us. We appreciate everything. I will highly recommend you guys

Dr Cole is so knowledgeable and attentive. I know she has my fur baby's best interest at heart. As of May, 2026, Dr Cole is not longer with the practice. Dr Martin is fantastic!!!! Dr Exelby, on the other hand is rude and condescending. The prices are high, but Dr Martin is worth the cost. He is very knowledgeable and compassionate. I would not see Dr Exelby.
